V. Sattui Winery

The History of V. Sattui Winery

V. Sattui Winery was established in San Francisco’s Italian District of North Beach in 1885 by Vittorio Sattui. Having arrived from Italy three years earlier, he became one of California’s pioneer winemakers, producing some of the state’s early great wines. The winery flourished, marketing its wine to all the Western states, until forced to close with advent of Prohibition in 1922.

Great-grandson Dario Sattui re-established the family winery in the Napa Valley in 1975. A commitment to making great wines that are sold directly to the consumer at reasonable prices, coupled with an Italian Market and picnic grounds, made V. Sattui an instant success. V. Sattui’s Numerous awards and accolades, including “Winery of the Year” at three California State Fairs and twice being named” Best Winery in the Western U.S., cements V. Sattui Winery’s reputation for consistent high-quality wines.

Come and enjoy a year-long celebration as we commemorate our 125th year producing outstanding Napa Valley wines!

We are proud to say that V. Sattui has established itself as one of the oldest and most successful wineries in the United States.
